I woke up and checked the results today they had posted three lists of winners- Outstanding Awards, Commendation Awards & Participation Awards, and my heart sank when none of them had my name.
For those of you who don’t know, I recently participated in “Dare to write Poetry Challenge” hosted by a Facebook Group called POETRY PLANET. It’s a monthly challenge and last month’s challenge was writing a Shakespearean Sonnet with following specifications:
- Theme – Love Letter,
- Structure – 14 line/ 10 syllables
- Rhyming Scheme – abab,cdcd,efef,gg (3 quatrains and 1 couplet)
You Can read my entry here – LETTER
This was the first time I had participated in a social media Poetry Challenge and not that I had very high hopes but to find out that I don’t even get a participation award…I’ll be honest, that stung! 😦
I read some of the entries in that list and made my peace with it because as much as I hate to admit it, they were good. Dishearted, I was thinking that now I will have to tell some of my followers who were kind enough to ask about the results that I didn’t win… and suddenly, I get a notification, Poetry Planet posted a picture and I was tagged in it.
For a second I couldn’t believe my eyes, my mind kept going “Holy Shit!!! Is this for real? Am I really The Winner of this thing…!?
When I checked the post and read all the comments of all the participants congratulating me, it sunk in and my happy dance hasn’t stopped since then.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
With this post, I want to thank Poetry Planet for my Very 1st Writing Accomplishment and for creating a platform where poets can share their poetry and find encouragement.
I also want to thank you guys for following and encouraging me with your likes and kind words. Without the support, that you guys have shown I would have never gained the courage to make my blog public on social media and to participate in any such challenge.
Cheers, you guys!!
