When you are a warrior
You don’t shy away from battles
You learn to wear your battle scars
As medals, as glorious tales of victory
There is honour in battles
Even you die a martyr.
But demons who come in the night
Dressed as dames, defenders or deprived
And strike when your armour comes off
They leave a wound too deep, a scar too ugly.
No honour, no glory in that
Jut shame of having been fooled
By someone, you considered an ally.
After too many sneak attacks
You start to expect the unexpected
You keep your shields up, armour on
And weapons ready at all times
Ready to strike before you get stabbed
suspecting anyone who gets too close
It is heavier that way but also safer
No one becomes a lone warrior by choice.

I loved this but it also made me sad. I wrote a post today and a small part of it addresses the fact that when someone betrays you it’s not your fault, and you should never feel like you should have kept your armour on. Off to read the blog post you linked!

in this world….being cautious is the need….betrayal, killing, hurt….all are given at what point of time by whom….is not known…..those come closer….succeed in doing anything they wish….

Spoken like someone who has seen a lot sneak attacks, a lone warrior!
Although being too cautious wouldn’t be safe either…. it would be to turbulent too lonely a life if no one was to be trusted, it would be like hurting ourselves with our own hands..
wouldn’t it?

Perhaps….but many people do that….don’t allow other to enter their domain….mistrust….stay aloof….and they exist…probably in a better way…..

I can’t say better or worse but they definitely exist. Or may be it’s a phase? Like we all become lone warrior for time after having been wronged too many times…until we meet someone truly worthy of our trust..

Timely and amazing composition on the fight we wage and backstabbers. True, we must be on our guards. A valiant composition. Who needs a weapon when we have words?!

And then I think a warrior eventually recognizes the limitations placed by the shield, makes another courageous choice …and builds a whole new army of like-minded, strong yet vulnerable warriors …
