Going Where The Heart Takes You (Sri Lanka, Chapter 2)

After Nuwara Eliya, we were headed to Arugam Bay, a Bay on Sri Lanka’s southeast coast, the best place for a surfing vacation in the country. I am not a surfer but I wanted to try it, maybe I am a surfer, I just don’t know it yet.

On our way, we came across this small street, the sidewalk was full of shack like cafes, little gift shops and a lot of tourists. Rohaan, our driver/guide told us we are in Ella. Ella is a small town with a rich biodiversity, a lot of mesmerizing waterfalls and a hilly countryside covered with evergreen, mossy forests and tea plantations. The word Ella is Tamil for Waterfall. Yes, Ella has that many waterfalls.

Hills In A Distant Part Of The World (Sri Lanka, Chapter 1)

We had flown away to an Island far away. Our flight landed in Columbo, the capital of Sri Lanka. A friend who had lived in Sri Lanka for a while had advised hiring a chauffeur driven car from the airport for the whole trip. It was a very good advice indeed, saved us from a lot of hassle, especially considering the language barrier.

We decided to see Columbo on our way Back to India and we headed straight to Nuwara Eliya, we wanted to start with the hills. Although I do recommend spending a day in Kandy if you have the time, and I highly recommend trying Sri Lankan fruits on your way, Durian and mangosteen are my favorites.

An Island Far Far Away (Sri Lanka- Chapter Zero)

Sri Lanka might not be the most beautiful country that I have been to but without a doubt, it was the most special trip of my life so far. That is the kind of place Sri Lanka is, It is overwhelmingly beautiful yet very simple in its ways. It is that kind of place that inspires you, that gives you that rare peaceful joy that we are all looking for and hardly every find. It is a small island nation in the Indian Ocean with a rich and diverse landscape ranging from beautiful hills and invigorating rainforests to breathtaking sandy beaches. A lot of beautiful breathtaking Sandy beaches, far far away from the brassy ways of today’s life.

Reflections In Lake Pichola, Udaipur

Udaipur, a city of lakes, situated in the state of Rajasthan, in western India. It is also referred to as the Venice of East. I have not yet been to Venice so I can’t confirm the comparison, but I can tell you this, It’s a beautiful city, full of art, culture, forts and lakes.

I went there a few moths ago with my psychotic friend, she is completely nuts but she is a dear friend and very often my partner in crime. We just picked up our bags and decided to go to Udaipur, no hotel bookings. Continue reading “Reflections In Lake Pichola, Udaipur”

Road Less Traveled By

IMG_2282

10 months ago I left a position of marketing manager at a luxury sports travel company where I was heading marketing for North India and I took a travel break.

I always wanted to travel, but I always had reasons to postpone it. I decided I can’t keep waiting for life to hold my hand and take me on adventures. When I first realized that I want to quit my job and decided to take a break and travel before I start looking for another one, my friends told me how it is a huge career risk. In India we don’t appreciate career breaks, they were right, we don’t. Did I want a life in which I had never taken any risks or a career that was at best, safe? NO. I served my notice period, saved some money and started my journey. Continue reading “Road Less Traveled By”
